Privacy Policy
At the Brain-Drone Racing League (BDRL), your privacy is of utmost importance, especially concerning the handling of sensitive neurodata.
1. Information We Collect
We collect several types of information to provide and improve our service to you:
- Personal Identification Information: Name, email address, school affiliation, and contact details.
- Biometric & Neural Telemetry: EEG brainwave data, heart rate, and performance metrics collected during sanctioned racing events.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and usage patterns on our digital platforms.
- Verification Documents: School IDs or proof-of-school documents provided during membership applications.
- Student Records: When a school coordinator enrolls students, we store each student's full name, school-assigned student ID, and email, along with simulation performance metrics (e.g., drone completion times and focus levels).
2. How We Use Your Data
The information we collect is used in the following ways:
- To manage your league membership and event participation.
- To calibrate and optimize the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) for individual pilots.
- To broadcast anonymized neural telemetry during live racing events for spectator engagement.
- To provide technical support and security updates.
3. Neurodata Security
We adhere to strict security protocols to prevent unauthorized access to your brain-computer interface (BCI) data. BDRL complies with emerging neuro-privacy standards. All neural data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
4. Cookies
We use essential cookies to ensure our website functions correctly. You can configure your cookie preferences using our Cookie Settings dialog.
5. Student Data & Minors
BDRL is used by schools, and many participants are minors. Student records are added by a school coordinator on behalf of the school. Coordinators are responsible for obtaining any required parental or guardian consent before adding a student's information, and for confirming this when they enroll a student. Each student accesses their own portal through a private link generated by their coordinator; this link is the credential and should not be shared publicly.
We act as a service provider to the school and handle student data only to provide the platform. We intend to align with applicable student-privacy regulations (such as FERPA and COPPA in the United States, and GDPR where it applies). Schools and parents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of a student's data at any time.
6. Data Retention & Your Rights
We retain personal and student data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law, and delete or anonymize it on request or when an account is closed. To request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data — or a student's data — contact us at privacy@bdrl.io.
